I am a first time author. I am self-publishing my book and would like to build a Shopify site with the necessary payment gateway plugins to take payments from around the world. In my home country we have local payment gateway providers who will provide payment services via API. This needs to be catered for in the design as those plugins will need to be integrated into the Shopify store.

I have tried to work with Shopify partners but they all seem to want to use basic Shopify templates. This does not work for me because I have to accept what they provide, there is no "design" work being done, so I’m choosing to find a Shopify "designer" who can actually do the design from scratch, not use a template.

The ideal candidate would be someone with a web design background who can apply that skill to designing a Shopify site with a store front. The site will literally only have one product, my book.

I have NO idea what to budget for this sort of thing. What I would like to suggest is for me to interview one or two potential candidates to help me with this project, where I will explain exactly what I need and then each person can provide an estimate of costs involved for the design work. I trust that approach is okay.
