We are seeking an experienced Prototype Developer with a background in sports equipment design and engineering to create a functional prototype for an innovative lacrosse and hockey glove. The ideal candidate will have experience in materials engineering, design for manufacturability, and hands-on prototyping. This individual will work closely with our product development team to bring our concept, which emphasizes improved feel, grip, and versatility under various environmental conditions, from paper to a tangible product.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with our team to understand the product concept and specifications, focusing on differentiating the product from existing patents and market offerings.
Select appropriate materials and fabrication methods for creating a snug-fitting, flexible glove prototype that emphasizes tactile feedback and stick control.
Develop solutions for a detachable and interchangeable palm system that allows for customization and easy replacement.
Integrate various materials for different conditions such as cabretta leather for breathability, neoprene spandex and microfiber for water resistance, and a combination of wool fleece and down for warmth.
Implement attachment mechanisms that may include, but are not limited to, industrial-strength Velcro, snap buttons, magnetic fasteners, zippers, and buttonhole elastic.
Build a prototype that accommodates different hand sizes and can be adjusted for growth, especially targeting youth players.
Address the concern of excessive wear and tear by creating a durable design that maintains the integrity of the glove during rigorous use.
Test the prototype rigorously to ensure performance standards are met and adjust the design as needed for functionality, comfort, and durability.
Prepare a detailed report on the prototyping process, including material choices, design rationale, challenges encountered, and solutions implemented.
Provide recommendations for mass production, considering cost-effectiveness and scalability.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in design and prototyping, with a portfolio showcasing previous work.
Proficiency in CAD software and experience with modern prototyping technologies and techniques.
Strong understanding of material properties and the design requirements of sports gear subject to dynamic and variable conditions.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Strong communication skills for effective collaboration and feedback implementation.
