Russia’s state nuclear agency Rosatom has accused Ukraine of escalating drone attacks on Russian nuclear power plants, warning of potential disaster after the latest incident at Novovoronezh NPP in Voronezh region. According to Rosatom chief Alexey Likhachev, eight Ukrainian drones were intercepted before debris damaged a power distribution unit, leading to a brief reduction in output. The plant was restored to normal operations after rapid repairs, and no change in radiation levels was reported. Rosatom claims these attacks are Ukraine’s response to battlefield losses and emphasizes that Russia will “adequately respond” to any aggression against its energy facilities.
