The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of Black history, Juneteenth’s significance, and the unique cultural landscape of Detroit, ensuring the platform resonates deeply with the local community.
The developer will be responsible for setting up, customizing, and optimizing the WordPress site to achieve a dynamic user experience while maintaining performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Create a customize a WordPress theme that aligns with a vibrant and empowering design.
Develop various pages and features including Homepage, Event Listings, News Section, Advertising and Sponsorship Information, Mailing List Subscription, and an Event Creation portal.
Integrate high-resolution video footage on the homepage and event creation page without compromising site performance.
Implement interactive web elements and community features to foster user engagement, including user-generated content tied to Instagram and TikTok (moderation system required for content approval).
Install an AI-powered chatbot for enhanced customer service experiences during high-traffic events.
Utilize browser cookies for personalized user experiences, including personalized greetings and content/event recommendations.
Ensure the website meets ADA standards, is fully responsive on all devices, and supports multi-language options.
Optimize for search engines and integrate social media platforms.
Source or create culturally respectful and relevant content, ensuring proper licensing for all imagery and multimedia used.
After launching the site, provide at least two weeks of support to fix any potential issues and ensure smooth functionality.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in WordPress (Theme customization, Plugin integration)
