United States President Donald Trump on May 13 announced in Saudi Arabia that he will be removing sanctions on Syria after talks with Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, known as MBS, and Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Trump said it was time for Syria to “shine”, adding that he hopes that the new regime in Syria can stabilise and transform the country.
