Design Requirements

We combines learning science with AI to create tailored and engaging learning experiences for corporate learners and college students. Though our product is not a direct-to-consumer product, it will only thrive if it builds a user experience that rivals any direct-to-consumer app. Thus, it will be more like Duolingo than Coursera. Our long term goal is to make our product the platform of choice of adult learning at scale with technology being the differentiator as opposed to content.

Current Status
Our Product is available as a browser app designed mainly for desktop (as of now)
Its information structure consists of
Tailored learning plan designed with the user in mind
Interactive chat similar to ChatGPT but with shorter messages and thumbnails and references
Dynamic charts such as mindmap, timeline, bar and pie charts
Dynamically create multiple choice quizzes which help us assess how well the users understand the topic
Other screens with selection menus, or feedback boxes.
Currently, there are 15 screens in the product including 6 onboarding screens seen only by first time users. The screens are all dark backgrounds with purple color.

Feedback on the app has been mixed
One user said “Wonderful user experience to learn concepts backed with hard facts! I love that it is supported by learning scientist research and has a well-crafted UX. Creative usage for multimodal generative AI”
However two corporate customers asked for lighter backgrounds with one saying “Take me away from all this darkness”
A constant refrain has been that the app does not clearly distinguish itself from ChatGPT till the user spends some time on it
Sign up rates are fairly high, but very few people go through with their entire first question, which means very few actually see the core value prop of the product

Short Term Goals
We want to publicize the app in mostly its current form, but with a better visual design – light theme supported, vibrant engaging colors, readable fonts, and modern design

Long Term Goals
Long term, we want to look, feel and think less like a boring enterprise app, and more like Duolingo. Possible ideas include : Making the interactions feel more gamelike (see this example), includes engaging outbound email, encourages the user to go through with the most challenging part, which is asking probing questions. Part of this will involve creating new material – we will work on more dynamic, gamified visuals, maybe live updates toa  mindmap, a map-like view of what the user has explored, talking avatar similar to the Call Annie app. But part of it is also just presenting what exists now in a more engaging manner.

What we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced developer that can help us for a 2-4 week project to help us achieve the short term goals AND set us up on a path to get to our long term goals. If working together, we find that we are good fit as a team, we’d like to continue our partnership with this individual
