China has strongly condemned the United States over its largest-ever arms sale to Taiwan, warning that the move is “speeding up” the risk of war in the Taiwan Strait. Beijing accused Washington of serious provocations after the US announced an $11.1 billion weapons package, including HIMARS rocket systems, missiles and drones. China’s defence ministry urged the US to correct its “wrong actions,” as tensions rise over Taiwan, which rejects Beijing’s sovereignty claims.
