After Ukraine’s alleged failed attempt to hijack a Russian MiG-31 armed with a Kinzhal missile, Moscow has launched a wave of massive retaliatory strikes across Ukraine. Multiple Shahed drone attacks hit Kharkiv, leaving buildings burning and thousands without power. Explosions were also reported in Sumy, Odesa, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia, as Russia claimed to have encircled Ukrainian troops near Pokrovsk. The Russian MoD released footage showing intense combat in Kupiansk and strikes targeting Ukraine’s main electronic intelligence center in Kyiv and the Starokonstantinov airbase, believed to host F-16 jets. The escalation follows FSB claims of a foiled UK–Ukraine plot to steal a MiG-31 for $3 million, allegedly part of a larger “provocation.”
