The users will be all school employees (teachers and school administrators). It is possible that later, parents or other professionals might be able to login to see student information such as report cards, behavior history, etc., but for now, the focus is on the school employees.

The school director wants to create a system that brings all functions together in one place so employees can do their jobs more effectively by not having to go looking for information. The information will be readily available in an app that feels professional and easy to use. These job functions will include billing (sending invoices for tuition), payroll, tracking all information about students (schedule, report cards, their current location in real-time), incident reporting so that all employees are aware of any issues, maintenance requests for repairs to the facilities, etc.

We are at the beginning of the design process and are currently working on identifying user workflows. We know that we will need a UI Designer so the final application has a professional appearance and is simple to use. Step 1 for us is learning more about your process: how you work, what information you need from us, what deliverables you will create for us, etc. Basically, I would like a demo from you that walks me through your process from beginning to end. I would like to know the questions you ask, watch you build a wireframe or interactive design, etc. You can use a project you’ve already done before, or you could use something simple like this:

Screen 1 Main Menu with 2 buttons:
* Add New Customer
* Add Invoice

Screen 2 Add New Customer
Fields:
First Name
Last Name
State (a drop-down box)
Customer Notes (a text box for some notes)

Screen 3 Add Invoice
Fields
Invoice Date
Invoice Number
Amount (currency)

Screens 2 and 3 would be able to return back to the Main Menu somehow.

The above is a very simple example. Maybe it is not what you need, but I would like to see how you would take something like that and turn it into a design that you give back to us. I am more interested in your process and how you work than in the design. I would like to meet with you for 30 minutes and have you walk me through your process. Before we meet, you can ask questions for clarification by sending me a message.

My role in this project is the project manager and database designer. The school director is the project sponsor and he decides what features the system will have. We will bring in other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from the school as needed (teachers, counselors, accountant).
