U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick made an unscheduled trip to New Delhi on Feb 26 and met Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal for a “highly productive” lunch meeting, with discussions centred on ways to deepen the India–U.S. trade and economic partnership. The development was confirmed through social media posts by U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor and Goyal, and the U.S. Commerce Department also said both sides discussed avenues to expand the bilateral trade relationship. Later in the day, Lutnick travelled onward to Jodhpur.
