US President Donald Trump phoned into his son’s AmericaFest appearance as Donald Trump Jr. told tens of thousands of young conservatives that the administration is “taking back our country” by ending DEI preferences and sharply tightening immigration. Trump Jr. claimed that “millions” who “poured into this country” under “radical Democrat policies” have driven up rents, strained health care and schools, and vowed that “if you import the third world, you become the third world, and we’re not going to let that happen,” casting current enforcement moves as a nationalist backlash against both illegal immigration and diversity programmes that he said left “young white men” behind. He argued that many Americans had “felt left behind” for a generation by college and job systems that told them they didn’t “check a couple of boxes,” and framed his father’s presidency as the vehicle for that resentment, before patching Trump onto the loudspeakers to thank Turning Point USA, joke about firing his son if the speech fell flat, and celebrate a “landslide” win with “30,000 young patriots in this room.”
