Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has called Pakistan’s reported decision to boycott its T20 World Cup 2026 match against India “pretty disgraceful,” warning that cricket is being hijacked by politics on “both sides.” Citing Bangladesh star Mustafizur Rahman’s blocked Kolkata contract and Islamabad’s show of solidarity with Dhaka, Tharoor said the situation is “spiraling out of control.” He urged India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the ICC to hold “emergency” talks and end the tit‑for‑tat, insisting cricket should bring South Asia together, not tear it apart.
