Three Italian nationals were airlifted by helicopter to specialist burns units at Niguarda Hospital in Milan after suffering severe injuries in a New Year’s Eve fire at a bar in the Swiss Alps. Lombardy welfare chief Guido Bertolaso said the victims, including a woman under 30 and two 16-year-old boys, have burns covering 30–40% of their bodies and remain heavily sedated. Italian authorities also reported that 16 Italian citizens are still missing, while around a dozen others are being treated in hospitals following the blaze.
