A New Year’s Eve celebration in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana turned into a devastating tragedy after a fire tore through the crowded Le Constellation bar, killing around 40 people and injuring more than 115. Survivors described scenes of panic, thick smoke and blocked exits as revellers struggled to escape. A 17-year-old girl who narrowly survived said she fled the flames moments before entering the bar and is now praying for friends who remain missing or hospitalised. Authorities say identifying victims will take time as investigations continue into the cause of the blaze.
