Sudan’s conflict saw a major development as Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), head of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council and leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), announced that the RSF has agreed to a three-month humanitarian truce. Dagalo said the ceasefire is the result of international mediation led by the United States, the Quartet (UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, US), and the African Union. He stated that the truce aims to protect civilians, allow unhindered humanitarian aid, and provide “a glimmer of hope” to millions suffering from the devastating war. Dagalo also called on the Quartet to pressure the Sudanese Armed Forces to accept the initiative.
