MI5 has issued a rare espionage alert warning that Chinese operatives may be targeting UK MPs and peers via LinkedIn. Security Minister Dan Jarvis confirmed a “covert and calculated” effort by Chinese intelligence, prompting the UK government to launch a counter-espionage action plan, including £170 million investment in sovereign encrypted technology and the removal of Chinese-made surveillance equipment from sensitive sites.
