European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stressed the importance of upholding international law and territorial integrity at a joint press conference in Cairo. Kallas said recent U.S. statements about Greenland are “extremely concerning” and that the EU is discussing how to respond if the threat to sovereignty is real. She also noted the EU’s call for respect for international law after the U.S. military action in Venezuela. Abdelatty condemned Israel’s recognition of Somaliland, calling it illegal and a threat to regional peace and stability, and emphasised cooperation with global partners to uphold sovereignty.
