We’re a leader in online continuing education for health professionals and we’re looking for a highly experienced, senior PHP developer for regular work, eventually leading to a full-time position.  You would take charge of our development projects, ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our systems while modernizing our legacy codebases. This role is designed to alleviate the day-to-day technical workload from our leadership team and expand our capabilities.  This is a fully remote position with regular communication by instant messenger and video calls as needed.  We are looking for someone who can take on small projects at first, grow within the organization, and eventually has a full-time position.  We want someone who wants a long-term career here, someone who wants to do interesting work, and someone who thrives on growth and taking on new challenges.  

Job Duties:
– Emergency Response: Be available to handle emergency situations and critical issues promptly.
– Codebase Management: Review and maintain the existing codebase to ensure stability, performance, and security.
– Bug Fixing: Work with our operations and support teams to identify and fix bugs to maintain software quality.
– Feature Development: Build and implement new features as the company’s needs expand.
– Modernization: Modernize our legacy codebases while implementing a TDD approach
– Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with the latest developments and best practices related to the technologies we use.

Skills Needed:
– Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of PHP, MySQL, HTML, Javascript, related frameworks, and best practices and proficient in working with both legacy codebases and newer frameworks.
– Experience: Proven experience as a Senior PHP Developer or similar role
– Time Management: Ability to accurately estimate timeframes and deliver projects on schedule.
– Big Picture Understanding: Understand the overall project context and make informed decisions without needing extensive guidance.
– Collaboration: Possess a curious and collaborative mindset, working well with team members and stakeholders.

Hourly Range: $25.00-$35.00
