We are looking for a skilled FPGA developer to join our team for an exciting retro-computing project. The ideal candidate will be based in Toronto for occasional in-person collaboration.
Required Skills and Experience:

Extensive experience with FPGA development and Verilog HDL
Proficiency with Xilinx ISE Design Suite and Xilinx FPGAs
Strong background in digital design and computer architecture
Familiarity with vintage computing systems and their hardware
Experience in reverse-engineering and reimplementing legacy hardware designs
Proficiency in timing-sensitive designs and clock domain management
Knowledge of DMA controllers and interrupt handling in hardware
Understanding of low-level I/O interfaces and protocols
Ability to analyze complex schematics and translate them into functional HDL code
Experience with simulation and verification of FPGA designs

Additional Desirable Skills:

Experience with ISIM or other Xilinx simulation tools
Knowledge of system-on-chip (SoC) design
Experience with custom peripheral design
Familiarity with constraints and timing closure in Xilinx environments
Passion for retro-computing and hardware preservation

The project involves recreating and optimizing a crucial component of a classic computing system. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring compatibility with various software versions while maintaining cycle-accurate behavior.
