Russia has launched a massive overnight assault on Ukraine, deploying more than 200 drones between January 17 and 18 in one of the largest attacks of the new year. At least two people were killed and dozens injured as strikes hit vital energy infrastructure amid freezing temperatures. President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the regions of Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Odesa were among those affected, as emergency crews worked through harsh winter conditions. Meanwhile, reports from Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia indicate that nearly 200,000 residents lost power following a Ukrainian drone strike.
