Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi attacked the Narendra Modi-led government in the Lok Sabha during the Union Budget 2024 debate. He displayed a photo from the “halwa ceremony,” a traditional event at the Ministry of Finance before the budget presentation. Gandhi slammed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman showing a photo of the Halwa Ceremony. Showing the picture he said, “The photo shows the distribution of Budget ka halwa. I don’t see any OBC, tribal, or Dalit officers here. While the country’s resources are being divided, 73% of the population is missing. The budget was prepared by 20 officers, yet it’s being distributed as if by 20 people.”
