We are seeking a skilled developer (python?) to automate the measurement of distance (d) between two bright spots in a series of images. In our experimental series, we have a double slit aperture that is illuminated underneath by a laser, and we place various samples atop the aperture, and capture images of the transmitted beam on a screen set at different focus heights. An arduino board drives a stepper motor to adjust height, then stops, while the height is measured by a mitutoyo gauge, then the trigger is closed for the image capture. Each experiment generates nearly 50 images, and presently we use ImageJ to draw a line across the two-slit image, identify the maximum pixel on each side, and calculate the distance (d) in piixels. We would love to automate this and have a program output a table of this distance for each of the images taken at each height. The ideal candidate should have experience working with ImageJ or similar image analysis software, as well as strong proficiency in Python or other programming. This is a great opportunity to apply your skills in image processing and automation.
Responsibilities:
– Automate the measurement of distance (d) between two bright spots in a series of 50+ images
– Program should use ImageJ or similar image analysis software to draw a line and identify maximum pixels
– Calculate and output the distance (d) based on the identified pixels
Requirements:
– Proficiency in Python programming
– Experience working with ImageJ or similar image analysis software
– Strong understanding of image processing techniques
– Attention to detail and accuracy in measurements
