Job Specification for Freelancer to Design Programmable 5G Modem
Title: Freelance Hardware and Software Engineer for Programmable 5G Modem Design
Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hardware and Software Engineer to design and develop a programmable 5G modem. The modem should support both FR1 (Sub-6 GHz) and FR2 (mmWave) frequency bands, including n257, n40, and n77, and be fully compatible with OpenRAN architecture. The successful candidate will work closely with our team to deliver a modem solution with debugging and configuration capabilities.
Responsibilities:
1. Design and Development:
o Develop a high-performance, programmable 5G modem supporting n257, n40, and n77 frequency bands.
o Ensure full compatibility with OpenRAN architecture, including seamless integration with RRUs, DUs, and CUs.
o Design both hardware and software components of the modem, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability.
o Modem shall also show interfaces (programmable) for IoT devices (use known interfaces such as OpenRAN, V2X, any IoT interfaces etc)
2. Hardware Development:
o Select appropriate components and design the hardware architecture of the modem. (Deliverable 1 due immediately)
o Produce schematics and gerber files
o Work with team to test/validate algorithms (may be use some development board for this first)
3. Software Development:
o Develop the software stack for the modem, including baseband processing and network protocols.
o Ensure the modem can interact seamlessly with Open5GS or other core network solutions.
o Implement network slicing, real-time monitoring, and advanced debugging capabilities.
o Ensure the modem supports advanced features like VoNR (Voice over New Radio) and 5G NR.
o Modem shall support voice call from a mobile device.
o Implement ADB commands for device configuration and access to Qualcomm logs (or similar) for network packet analysis.
