The perfect candidate is an expert across the full-stack TypeScript ecosystem of tools with a deep appreciation for well-structured, organised and clean code.
As a product engineer, you should care more about outcomes and impact than the exact implementation or tools used.
We’re looking for a product engineer that will obsess over the product and is willing to take ownership and responsibility for what they build.
This role involves writing code across the full-stack of technologies with a focus on crafting seamless user experiences through thoughtful frontend engineering.
Working closely with the product designers, a product engineer should be opinionated on the best path to translating designs into delightful products. Taking into consideration how the product fits into the company and the competitive landscape, offering suggestions and feedback to help craft a better outcome.
🎖️ Responsibilities
– Engage in the definition of product roadmaps, offering insights into trade-offs, timelines and best practices
– Craft intuitive and compelling frontend experiences in collaboration with the design team
– Architect end-to-end applications using the TypeScript ecosystem of tools
– Understand the need to keep products lean and streamlined to reach Minimum Lovable Product (MLP)
– Participate in presenting & pitching ideas to prospective partners
– Uphold a high level of communication between team members and partners utilising async tools like Slack & Loom to provide detailed progress updates
– Managing task backlog & estimations using our project management tool: Linear
– Contribute to weekly standups with progress reports & blockers

Languages & Frameworks:
Deep knowledge and appreciation for the TypeScript ecosystem:
– React (state mgmt, hooks, architecture)
– Next.js (best practices/conventions, trade-offs, app structure)
– Styling Libraries – Radix UI Themes, shadcn, TailwindCSS (design systems, reusable components, building on top of existing patterns)
– Node.js (modular design, SOLID principles, organisation)
– TRPC (API design, type sharing)
– Prisma (schema design, efficient queries, migrations)
– PostgresSQL (database setup, structure, deployment & hosting)
Coding Standards:
Experience working in product teams with multiple engineers.
– Clean, well structured, modular & well-architected code across the full-stack
– Self-documenting code using descriptive naming and intuitive organisation
– Mastery of Git pull request & review workflow and continuous integration
– Providing reviews for team members code and ability to spot potential issues/pitfalls before they reach production
– Written documentation and diagrams where required
Tooling:
Understanding and experience with modern remote-first tools used to stay aligned with team members and partners.
– Slack – day-to-day communication
– Loom – detailed product & progress updates
– Zoom – team calls, standups, 1-1s, group debugging
– Linear – managing engineering tasks, roadmaps and estimations
– Figma – interfacing with the design team, providing feedback
– GitHub – pull requests, reviews, managing deployment branches
