The Simple Platform (TSP) is seeking US-based natural/physical science PhD students/candidates and postdocs for a part-time position offering hourly compensation and a unique opportunity to enhance your personal research and networking opportunities.

You will have the opportunity to build a community around the research questions that are most important to you as you test TSP, a boutique research and collaboration platform designed to expedite research and academic networking.  TSP targets ultra-niche research areas (which we call “verticals”), making connections among researchers whose shared interest is obscured by geographic and disciplinary distance.
You will be paid both to build your vertical and to provide feedback on the ease of use of the TSP platform.

Qualifications:
1. US-based PhD student/candidate or postdoc in a natural/physical science discipline (including but not limited to astronomy, biology, chemistry, computer science, ecology, engineering, environmental studies, geosciences, medicine, meteorology, molecular sciences, pharmacy and physics)
2. Interest in advancing your personal academic interests through compensated work
3. Attention to detail and ability to provide constructive feedback and ideas (not just complaints)
4. Clear communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines — to “say what you’ll do, do what you say, report back”

Job Duties:
– Curate, revise, and edit vertical content compiled by RNAI, a proprietary search algorithm designed specifically for early career academics
– Conduct additional research to improve vertical content
Network with potential participants to join your vertical
– Maintain and build your vertical’s community based on your ideas and the suggestions of TSP’s community experts

Expected Deliverables:
– Ongoing frequent interaction with the platform to build your vertical’s community and to improve vertical content
– Weekly calls with TSP management to discuss status and learnings (you will provide a short written summary before each call)
– Drafting, revising, and providing input to TSP’s “standard operating procedures” for vertical editors and vertical content creation
–  5-10 hours/week–at least 5 hours per week required
–  8-10 week engagement (with potential extension if testing is successful)

If Interested, Please Submit:
– Your proposed vertical name and a short summary about the area
– The scientific discipline(s) of which your suggested vertical is part
– Your CV
– Confirmation of your availability and commitment to participate consistently for 8-10 weeks (for 5-10 hours/week)

Hourly Range: $25.00-$35.00
