Germany is facing a new surge in arrivals from war‑torn Ukraine as thousands of young men of military age cross into Europe following a change in Kyiv’s border policy. Since August, Germany’s migration office has registered 19,484 Ukrainian men aged 18 to 22 entering the country, with officials reporting that weekly asylum requests from this group jumped from roughly 100 to around 1,000 after the new rule allowing young men to leave was introduced.
