Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Wednesday that the mandate and framework of a proposed international stabilisation force for Gaza still require clarification. Speaking alongside Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in Ankara, Fidan stressed that the future administration of Gaza must be guided by a “clear legal and political framework,” under the Palestinian Committee and Peace Council expected to govern the territory. The remarks come amid discussions of a U.S.-backed 20-point peace plan for Gaza, outlining post-war governance and security arrangements. Israel has rejected Turkish military participation, saying only “neutral countries” should be part of any multinational force. Several nations have also said the deployment would need a UN mandate.
