A US Army soldier, Gordon Black, was detained in Russia on May 2 on charges of stealing money from a woman. Russian newspaper Izvestia, quoting an unnamed source, said the Army sergeant based-in South Korea met a woman from Russia’s far eastern port of Vladivostok on the Internet. Izvestia reported that the US soldier beat her and stole 200,000 roubles ($2,200) from her.
