adminapart from that theres a few things i need done. everything is in kotlin for android.
1. So when u press on movies they show up instantly. But tv shows take like 5 seconds on mid range and low end devices. this is due to how it loads the episodes. it shouldnt be loading them like it is.
i want each episode to say the name of the episode and lead to the video when pressed.
2. Fix meta data.
So each thing whether it be a movie or tv show we get the data for that from two places. Tvdb and theMovieDatabase
I have shows like "s-cry-ed" which is a tv show but in the app it doesnt get any data for it. But tvdb on there site clearly has all this.
I suspect this might be cause of the special characters like somethings have question marks or in this case dashes.
Also "code geauss" a show i have ive had trouble getting that to show up also possibly same reason idk.
3. Tv shows are read by the pattern "s01e02" which indicates season 1 episode 2. A common naming scheme for tv shows.
A slightly older naming scheme is "01×02" incicating same season and episode as before. We dont yet support that but id like for it to.
4. Casting. So right now on the menu we have an option for casting which appears to do nothing. Id like that removed from the menu. And have an implementation similiar to how youtube does it. Which is an icon top right and u press on it and then pick the device and it casts to that.
5. Remove music as a default category and from the add a category option.
6. The add category page. The ui id like to look like the attached picture. I can send u the editable file for this. Its a ".fig" file. The only thing to note here is that we can have multiple external devices. On a phone im sure thats impossible but on a roku or nvidia shield for example it isnt. So the buttons will likely just go under the ones already there.
alao id like for it to support local networks. ao having a button for that would be neat. mx player has a great example of how this should work. u just type the ip or url, along with any details you might need such as domain, username and password. some people set it up with these and some dont.
7. I do have one last thing which is about adding filters to the see all page so you can sort through the movies based on certain things like genre or rating or whatever that sites usually include. But i dont have any ui done for this.
8. custom tv channels. so how this will work. is u pick what movies or tv shows u want to be on here. tv shows will have option to select which seasons u wish to have so u can choose not to see certain seasons if u wish to. and an option to select if episodes for tv show will be aired randomly or in order.
so how this will work. is it will pick at random shows from the list. and make a schedule for the day or week (whichever u think eill work best) using them. and then it will look at what the current time is and show u the show that is suppose to be aired at that time. and lets say the simpsons starts at 8am. and its 8:15am. well if thats approx 50% of the way in then it will take you to 50% of the way into the episode. and start you from there.
ill leave any UI choices for this in your hands. as its not designed. and im not sure how the schedule will be displayed ect. but each channel will need to be displayed on menu and probably need to include an add channel button there also.
