A massive fire broke out on June 25 near the Israeli military base on Mount Scopus in East al-Quds, also known as East Jerusalem. Israel’s Fire and Rescue Service said that two fires broke out in the area just before 10 p.m. local time, threatening Hadassah Hospital and the Ofrit military base. According to a Channel 12 news report, authorities suspect the blaze was started by Molotov cocktails hurled from the nearby Palestinian neighbourhood of Issawiya. An IDF spokesman also said that there are suspicions that the fire was started intentionally.
