Union Home Minister Amit Shah cancelled his election rallies in Maharashtra as a fresh wave of violence grips Manipur. Shah returned to Delhi and is likely to hold a review meeting to assess the situation in Manipur. Violence broke out in India’s northeastern state on November 16 after the militants killed three women and three children in Jiribham district. An angry mob, demanding justice, torched the homes of three state ministers and six MLAs. Protesters also tried to storm Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh’s ancestral home in Luwangshangbam.
