Uruguay’s left-wing Frente Amplio issued a unanimous statement warning about the growing US military presence in the Caribbean and voicing firm support for Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Speaking in Montevideo, deputy Tatiana Antunez accused the United States—under President Donald Trump—of escalating political interference and promoting a “warmongering, interventionist” agenda in Latin America. She argued Washington is seeking an “enemy” under the pretext of fighting drug trafficking and aims to overthrow Maduro’s government. Frente Amplio said the deployment of US forces in the Caribbean and Pacific threatens regional peace and violates international law.
