Hi Freelancers,

We are looking for 2 VBA experts for ongoing and long-term work.

We can stick to freelance work, and we are open to a ‘retainer’ deal where we guarantee minimum weekly hours. Later we are also open to more fixed opportunities. (work from anywhere)

The successful candidates will need to: (Crucial needs)
– Be aware of the wider implications of units compared to the whole project.
– Able to solve complex logic issues efficiently.
– Be energized by a challenge, and search every old forum on the web to get a solution, never accept that something can’t be done out of the gate.
– Be experienced enough to see things the management team could have missed in scoping. (e.g. a manager might not think of differences between Excel versions, but you will need to take this into account and/or flag it)
– MUST always strive to deliver high-quality work, and always double-check results before handing something back.
– Able to manage your workload and upcoming projects, e.g., push for the next project’s scope while this one is ongoing.
– Very important – you need to have excellent communication. Raise your hand when you are stuck so that we can support you and do not shy away.

If you are interested in joining, please apply and please note we will shortlist applicants for an initial task. How you complete this task will determine eligibility.

We don’t want you to work for free, so this task will be paid for at an agreed rate when you are shortlisted.

Task:
Create a sequence tester.

You need to create a function that sits in its own ribbon and is stored as an xlam file.

The function needs to be able to identify gaps in sequences. (think reference numbers in data exported to Excel from accounting systems)

Once a user runs the function, all sequence omissions will be presented in a new sheet.

e.g.
Input:
1
2
4
6

Result:
3
5

Key challenges:
– The function needs to be able to run on many different datasets.
– You don’t know what the sequence will look like (could be numeric, could be alphanumeric, could be a combination)
– You don’t know the size of the dataset or the position of the column containing the reference numbers
[When applying, start with the word ‘Lenovo’]
– Keep in mind the speed of execution and code optimization
– Your data could contain merged cells, gaps or other challenges

Any questions please let us know.
