A Redbird Airways air-ambulance aircraft carrying seven people from Ranchi to New Delhi crashed near Simaria in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on Feb 23, killing all on board. DGCA said the Beechcraft C90 (VT-AJV) departed Ranchi at 19:11 IST, requested deviation due to weather, and then lost communication and radar contact at 19:34 IST about 100 nautical miles south-east of Varanasi, after which the aircraft went down in a forested area. The victims included two pilots, a burn-injury patient, two attendants, a doctor and a paramedic, and an AAIB investigation has been initiated.
