External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, speaking at the inauguration of a conclave on global economic cooperation in Mumbai, said the world is entering a volatile and uncertain era where economics is increasingly shaped by politics, security and fast-moving technology, especially AI. He argued that countries and companies must “de-risk” and diversify supply chains amid weaponisation of production and finance, export controls and shifting energy trade flows, while India’s response is to build national capabilities, push reforms, and deepen partnerships from a position of strength. Jaishankar highlighted infrastructure gains and India’s digital public infrastructure as enablers of growth, and said India is engaging more intensively with partners through a series of trade deals as it works toward its “Viksit Bharat 2047” goal.
