Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has issued a sweeping revenge threat after Iranian state television confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, vowing to punish the “murderers” and continue his legacy through the IRGC, Iran’s armed forces and the Basij. The statement warned of severe, decisive retaliation and came as the region remains on edge after the Feb 28 U.S.–Israel strikes and Iran’s subsequent launches. Iran’s cabinet has also warned that the “great crime” will never go unanswered, signalling a potential widening of attacks against U.S. bases and Israel.
