U.S. special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea on February 7, accompanied by CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper. The carrier is deployed near Iranian waters amid rising tensions. Witkoff said the visit highlighted U.S. military readiness and that they met a pilot who recently downed an Iranian drone approaching the ship. The visit came as Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned Tehran would target U.S. military bases in the Middle East if Iran was attacked. Araghchi also stated Iran’s missile programme was not negotiable during talks with Washington.
