Iran is using Marco Rubio’s own rhetoric to mock what it calls the real “American Dream,” with parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf arguing that if Tehran had not spent heavily on weapons, the U.S. could have seized Iran’s oil fields within 48 hours, armed Israel even more heavily, and created “many, many new Gazas.” His post was a direct response to Rubio’s claim that Iran would be a very different country if it had spent billions on its people instead of weapons.
