US Vice President JD Vance said that the use of military force under Donald Trump will be careful and decisive. Addressing graduates at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, on May 23, Vance said that the US under Trump will avoid involvement in open-ended conflicts. Vance further said that the US faces serious threats from China, Russia and other nations. On the pro-Iran Houthi rebels, Vance said Trump’s order to use force against Houthis led to a ceasefire and forced the militia to halt attacks on American shipping targets in the Red Sea.
