Unbuilt is an early-stage startup based in California with early-stage funding from Techstars and eBay. Our online marketplace allows construction professionals to resell materials leftover from their projects. Billions of dollars worth of high-quality construction goods are needlessly thrown away every year. By enabling re-use, we’re tackling one of the main sources of climate change, landfill waste, and resource extraction while also earning profits for our partners and helping the DIY community build better with small budgets.

Job Description:

If you’re a great developer with an entrepreneurial mindset, strong experience in eCommerce, skills across the stack, and you want a stake in what you’re building, this may be a great fit for you:

• Work with Founders and UX Lead to determine Product Strategy & Features
• Evolve our marketplace from Low Code (Shopify + Airtable) to a Full-stack MVP Platform
• Build AI into our internal workflows, customer service, and pricing functions

As a foundational team member joining the two Founders, you’ll wear ‘many hats’—guiding technical strategy and developing our portfolio of technical assets. You’ll inherit the existing data sets and low-code tools developed by the Founders, then evolve and integrate them into a new platform with expanded functionality and features custom-built for our users. Though design skills are not required, you should have a strong understanding of User Experience and an overall sense of Product Strategy in addition to hands-on coding capabilities.

Compensation:

You’ll be paid a monthly contract flat fee (provided in the listing summary) along with monthly restricted stock option grants over a preliminary term of 6 months. During this time, the company will be working to secure funding that will facilitate conversion to a permanent full-time role. Detailed terms will be negotiated based on your experience and capabilities.

Requirements:

• Senior Level Full Stack Development Skills
• Experience building eCommerce-related Platforms
• Proficiency in Python (for existing ETL scripts developed by the company)
• Ability to integrate / leverage AI Services

Good to Have:

• Experience with Shopify
• Experience with Airtable
• Team Management Experience
• Familiarity with Low-code Marketplace Frameworks (Sharetribe, Bubble.io)
