EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas announced a clampdown on Russia’s diplomatic footprint in Europe, saying she has decided to cap the size of the Russian mission to the EU at 40 people. She framed the move as a response to alleged abuses of diplomatic cover, stressing that the bloc “will not tolerate the abuse of diplomatic privileges” and is working to keep “potentially hundreds of thousands of former Russian soldiers” out of the Schengen area. Kallas said the EU does not want “war criminals and saboteurs roaming our streets,” while Moscow had not yet publicly responded to the accusations at the time of publication. Watch for more.
