Former militants and supporters gathered in Ouagadougou on Saturday for the inauguration of the Thomas Sankara Mausoleum, an event marking the anniversary of the 1983 Democratic and Popular Revolution. The ceremony honored Sankara and his 12 companions, who were assassinated in 1987.
