China has started a two-day military drill encircling Taiwan, calling it as a ‘strong punishment’ for the island’s ‘separatist acts’. The drills come three days after the inauguration of President William Lai, who has been called a ‘ dangerous troublemaker’ by Beijing. While China asserts Taiwan as a renegade province destined for reunification, Taiwan maintains its distinct identity.
