China’s top diplomat Wang Yi has sharply condemned large-scale US arms sales to Taiwan as the Chinese military carried out a second day of drills around the island. Speaking on China’s foreign policy, Wang warned that Beijing would take “countermeasures” against what it sees as provocations by Taiwan independence forces and Washington. He reiterated China’s goal of “complete reunification” with Taiwan and criticised Japan over comments suggesting possible intervention. Wang also said China would stand firm on core interests while remaining open to dialogue with the US and pushing for peace talks on Ukraine.
