(1) Where the visitor can travel through an open-world map, similar to Bruno Simon (https://bruno-simon.com/).
(2) Where the visitor can navigate a closed-world map or model, similar to HKDI (https://hkdi.edu.hk/dreamfactory/index.html), Joshua’s World (https://www.joshuas.world/), and Jesse Zhou (https://jesse-zhou.com/). A somewhat interesting hybrid may be the game ‘Inside’ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDm6PAgNohU), though of course we would have a limit to how far one can navigate or alternatively have them go in a loop.
(3) Where the character itself doesn’t walk/drive (like in approaches 1 and 2), instead the visitor lands on a cozy looping scene – an animated version of the protagonist working at his desk, with seasons slowly changing outside a large window in front, and some options for delight, like the ability to switch day/night and a radio on which you can turn on/off the music. There would be objects, representing case studies, around the room that are clickable. When the viewer clicks on an object, an orb could fly towards the window and open up the project/case study.
Overall, the aesthetic should be streamlined and cohesive. For example, Joshua’s World is not so cohesive – the case studies look pretty basic and when they open, it feels like a different aesthetic. Additionally, the website should be responsive so the experience is equally good on mobile phones.
If you bid on this project, please respond to the following questions.
1. I also have this idea where the character, if he is walking around like in approaches 1 and 2, changes attire and ages (grows older) as he goes from one phase to another. Is that possible? Would it cost extra?
2. What is the closest example project(s) you have worked on in this style?
3. Who else will you need to complete this project? Will you need some kind of visual designer? I am considering working with a designer, but would like to know what other skills you need and if you already recommend someone you have worked with before.
4. Timeline and cost
5. If you create this, will it be easy for a non-technical person to update the case studies later? How much would it cost to maintain this website in the long run?
