The objective of this project is to build and launch to the app store in 2-4 months, an iPad app for users to collect and record information about equipment in buildings as they walk through a building. As a starting point for the project I will be able to provide: a partially complete Figma prototype, the full codebase for a partially complete proof-of-concept version of the app, sample photos for OCR and post-processing feature testing, example files demonstrating formatting needed for exports, and ~200 pages of documentation covering the app’s features and functional requirements in detail.

Overview:
The proposed iPad app enables users to load a PDF floor plan of the building into the app as a background. On this PDF background they can place equipment of various types at their corresponding “physical” locations. For each such piece of equipment, the user will use the app to take photos of physical labels. Label text will be automatically extracted from the photo using VisionKit OCR, and then the text will be post-processed to identify relevant values from the raw text which will then be mapped into data fields for that piece of equipment. In addition to this floor plan interface, the app will also feature a diagram interface wherein the user can interactively view, create, and modify connections between equipment/components. Both interfaces will share a common on-device database of the equipment/components with their properties. After the user has collected information during a building walk-through, the app will provide the option to export the data and media for use in other software applications. The export capability will be the paid feature of the app.

Core Features:
Floor Plan Interface (imported static PDF background, resizable/rotatable equipment elements)
Diagram Interface (includes dynamic component re-positioning based component interconnections)
In-app “Smart Capture” photo & OCR capability (with flow for user to crop photos and review post-processing results to source photo as part of data validation)
Export/Import to CSV-like file type (example file to be provided for formatting reference)
Per-Export Payment System
Searchable Media Library (associate equipment with photos)
Inter-Equipment Relationship Data Management
Database search
