U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken pushed forward the new ceasefire proposal during phone calls with Israeli war cabinet members Yoav Gallant and Benny Gantz. Blinken said the new deal would advance Israel’s long-term security needs. However, Israeli defence chief Yoav Gallant on the same day openly said that his country will not end the war until it destroys Hamas’ military and governing capabilities.
