The Russian ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, hit out at the US and UK for conducting airstrikes in Yemen against Houthi rebels. Speaking at the UNSC meeting on the situation in Yemen on July 23, Nebenzya said that “US and UK airstrikes have only strengthened the Houthis.” He also noted that “some countries are extinguishing fire with gasoline instead of calming down the situation.”
