The blaze reportedly lasted over 30 hours, spreading across multiple compartments of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and forcing hundreds of sailors into emergency response roles. According to The New York Times, more than 600 crew members were left without proper berthing as living quarters were damaged, while around 200 sailors suffered smoke inhalation.
