Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav raised serious concerns in Parliament over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. He highlighted the recent deaths of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), alleging excessive work pressure during the revision exercise. Akhilesh Yadav accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of removing thousands of votes before elections, claiming that even after affidavits were submitted as per EC norms, no corrective action was taken. Backing the Congress party’s demand for electoral reforms, Akhilesh Yadav supported calls to reform the ECI selection process, including adding the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and the Chief Justice of India to the panel that appoints Election Commissioners.
